Text of Speech

My name is Kyle Cook and I’m going to graduate from our high school in the class of 2014. I’m so glad to be out of that hell pit known as middle school. I’m also happy to be here and can’t wait to meet all of the other incoming freshmen.

The first thing I’m going to talk about is my goals in academics. One of my academic goals is to be in Renaissance all four years that I’m going to be here. From there I want to get an A+ in most of my classes including my weak subject of English. In math I have Mr. Villa and I hope to be in the top of his geometry class. I hope to learn how to work on computers in my E.D.A. class with Mrs. Carr. However, my biggest academic goal is to be the valedictorian at my high school graduation. From there I want to go to the University of Southern California where I will get my college degree in chemistry and engineering.

Secondly, I would like to talk about my family goals. I would like to fight less with my mom about tiny things that don’t matter, as well as appreciate her work around the house more. From there I want to argue less with my father about little things as well. Then comes my brother. I strive to bug him less, and in doing so getting more time to relax and hang out with him. I also need to keep in touch with my grandparents better by calling them at least once a week. Lastly and most importantly, I want to have and keep a close knit family.

Next, I would like to talk about my friends and social life goals. First off I really hope to stay in touch with my friends like Sam, Mac, and many others, who went to other high schools. Nevertheless, as well as keeping my old friends I would also like to make new friends at this new school. Now that I’m in high school, I would like to go to more social activities, such as dances, parties, and many other things. Although many of my friends went to different schools, I still hope, even though we seem so far apart, that we still stay close. Though I have had good friends I hope to make great ones. Through good times and bad times we will always stay close.

If you ask me the question, “Are you fit?” I would answer, “YES!” one hundred percent of the time. Some of my new physical and sports related goals would be to make the BHS freshman baseball team. On top of that I would want to have a starting role in the lineup. Next I want to continue being healthy by working out more often and eating better. I would like to join a gym and try to go every day. Outside of sports and workout relative things I want to do more physical activities with my family, from throwing a Frisbee around to going wakeboarding at the lake. No matter what you do, you can’t get your body too fit.

High school is full of up's and down's, but in the end you will always make it through.
In conclusion, I can’t wait to meet and become friends with all of the students here at our school and see them on the graduation stage four years from now and hopefully in college and even later in life.
